President’s Message – March 2010

Greetings from cold, snowy, beautiful Kansas! It’s cold now, but by June it will be warm, balmy and sunny. This has really been the toughest winter in 20 years, so things have got to be getting better.

Plans for the 2010 BueLingo Beef Cattle Society Convention are well underway.

The Thursday evening meet and greet will be hosted by Lisa and Bill at the Lugar-Hutton Ranch. So, come early and enjoy the evening. Their ranch is located midway between the hotel and the fairgrounds and is easy to find.

We will be adding one additional show award to those traditionally given in the past. It will be called the President’s Award and will be presented to the BueLingo with the smoothest, whitest, widest, best looking belt. The recipient must also meet the requirements for a registered BueLingo animal.

Calving season is beginning for many BueLingo owners. Be sure to record all the pertinent information that Danny Meyer needs to complete the annual BueLingo Calving Record Survey. This helps document the number, size, color, etc. of all the new BueLingo babies out there. The next step of course is to register all the keepers.

Don’t forget the MWBA 5th Annual BueLingo Breeders Sale on Saturday, 13th of March, 2010. This is a good opportunity to purchase well-bred breeding stock to replenish or expand your herd. We also hope to have a great selection of BueLingo animals offered for sale at the convention in June. Let us know as soon as possible what you plan to offer for sale so your animal can be included in local convention advertising.

Come early and stay late is the current guidance for the convention. Tourist attractions abound in the area. Ft. Leavenworth has a walking tour, a museum full of old west items and numerous points of interest, such as: the Buffalo Soldier Monument. Leavenworth has a historic carousel, a museum and numerous restaurants. Lansing has a prison, museum and an abundance of fast food establishments. Kansas City, of course, has just about all the big city attractions, such as; Cabella’s, Nebraska Furniture, Truman’s Home, Nelson’s Art Gallery, and more. The Angus, Charolais and Black Hereford headquarters are located nearby. Let us know if you would like information on a specific attraction.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at the BueLingo Beef Cattle Convention in June at Tonganoxie, Kansas.

Sincerely,
Joe, President
