Secretary’s Message for November 2009

It’s hard to believe that 2009 is winding down. It’s November 1, and all our corn and beans are still in the field. It’s sure been a challenging year all across the country.

I’m happy to report that the BueLingo Beef Cattle Society is holding its own. We’ve had several successful events this year even though attendance was down.

Our total cattle registrations – year to date – are at 319.

Of those 319, 76 (24%) are registered Red. 15 of the red are registered in the BIF with 14 white feet.

Of the remaining 243 registered Black, 29 are registered in the BIF with 14 white feet.

Our renewals for the 2009-2010 memberships are still trickling in. We have added 24 new members – 18 of which are gift memberships. But, I regret we are still waiting on 33 expired renewals. Yes, if you haven’t paid your membership dues by now, your membership is expired. It’s not too late to get your fees in. We would sure like to keep everyone current.

Our membership consists of: 14 Associate members —- 2 have expired

16 Junior members ——– 5 have expired

10 Lifetime members —–

120 Regular members —- 26 have expired

We have a total of 160 paid members to date.

I would like to welcome all our new members and thank everyone for renewing their 2009-2010 memberships. I look forward to working with all of you in the future.

The Board of Directors will be holding a winter meeting sometime in January (weather permitting). We have 2 members nominated for the 2010 Board of Directors. The nominations are still open at this time. Our main item on the agenda is to review the by-laws. Please contact the office or any director, if you have any concerns or items of interest that need to be addressed or placed on the agenda.

Remember the office is just a phone call away. Actually, we got out of the boonies in September and now are on high speed internet. So, I don’t have to wait until after 10:00 p.m. or before 7:00 a.m. to upload and download information. (It won’t tie up the phone lines.) Ahhh Technology!

I wish everyone a successful fall harvest, and calf weaning. Hopefully, I will meet new members and new faces at the events in 2010.

Our President, Joe Steve, is gathering information and details for the 2010 National Convention. It’s official. We are going to Kansas.

Sincerely Belted,

Susan Blair, Secretary
